Power Outage
Other Issues, posted by David, a resident of the Monta Loma neighborhood, on Aug 15, 2008 at 11:40 pm

Anyone know why a chunk of Mountain View was without power a few hours this evening? I had to reset my clocks when I got home and someone I called on the other side of Moffett was also without power.

The pharmacist at the Shoreline Safeway said she had heard that someone had hit a power pole off of Central Expwy. The power came back on there around 7:30 pm.

Yup - I live right off Central and as I was driving by I saw the pole. It looked like it had shorted and the pole itself was on fire on Central (about a mile east of downtown).

This was a good test imo to see if folks are prepared for a emergency. I went thru my preps and found I was missing a couple things in this situation. So in many ways I took it as a warning.
