Barking Dog Ordinance
Around Town, posted by SleeplessinMV, a resident of the Waverly Park neighborhood, on Aug 29, 2008 at 8:52 pm

Has this city ordinance regarding barking dogs actually help anyone stop a barking dog problem in their neighborhood?

5.59b

Unlawful to allow an animal to howl, bark, or meow continuously for 10 minutes, or intermittently for 30 minutes.

What do you do when you hear dogs barking continously for an entire night or weekend? Do the police actually enforce this ordinance? How does it work - do the dog owners get a warning, and eventually a fine? What is they put the dogs in when the police come and it just becomes a "he said/she said" situation?

What you need to do is call the MVPD and ask for a cop named Lucifer. He will come over right away with ten squad cars, sirens blaring (oops, guess that won't help with that noise problem) and knock a few canine heads together until they're bleeding and unconscious on the ground. If anyone objects, he'll them that the dogs were resisting arrest.

That's how they deal with noise problems in Mountain View.
