St. James Infirmary.......
Around Town, posted by Richard Gambatese, a resident of the Old Mountain View neighborhood, on Feb 6, 2009 at 1:51 pm

I was a couselor at the Mt.View Methadone Clinic which was in the County Building at the intersection of Stirlin Rd and Moffett Blvd. from 1973 to 1978. We used to have lunch at a Chinese restaurant in town ( I believe it was Andy's ) and go to St.James Infirmary on Moffett Blvd. for beers after work. St.James was a great place with old chairs hanging from the ceiling and peanut shells on the floor. I also worked as a bar tender at Chuck's Cellar in Los Altos in 1971 and was there when Linda Ronstadt performed one weekend. Her back up band would eventually become the Eagles! Those were great days!

Ahh, I remember Chuck's Cellar! My parents used to go to concerts there back in the day, and I remember getting to go there as a kid for dinner for special occasions. They had a salad bar with chilled plates, so cool for a kid! I'm not even sure what is there now, it used to be a Persian restaurant/night club or something like that.

I loved chuck's Cellar. I grew up there. Worked there from 1980 to 1985. I was really sad to hear that the owner Larry Hancock had passed on in 2005.
