I am so grieved to hear of Billy's death. He was the most amazing man. A gentle giant. I knew him from my commute bus (the 35) coming home from Palo Alto to Mountain View. Everybody on the 35 knew when Billy's anniversary to his wife was approaching as he told all of us. We knew where they were going out for dinner. We knew what they had to eat. We knew of his deep love for his wife and family. We knew about their vacations and all of the loved ones they saw. We knew that booming voice from that gentle giant. I saw Billy across the store recently as I was leaving and thought I'd say "hi" to him another time, as I was tired that night. I'm kicking myself now that I didn't make the effort as there isn't "another time". This has taught me: Do it now!

I am so sorry to read this today...He came to many Parks and Rec Commissions meetings when I was there and he always came by to visit with me when I was watering the beautiful hanging baskets on the plaza. He always asked me how I was and really cared about our great city. Goodbye William....I will truly miss our wonderful talks.

Dear Ware Family,
Thank you for the WONDERFUL memorial service tonight in Mountain View for Billy. It helped our hurting hearts. Thanks for the great stories about Billy, photos, moving songs, Scripture verses, and all of those who shared: the mayor, immediate family, friends, neighbors, VTA coach operators, folks from the Mountain View Library, and the presence of police, fire, and so many others. This was the first time I was able to drive on California Street where Billy died. I'd intentionally avoided it but was strenghtened by everyone's love for Billy! God bless you all! You are in our prayers. Anything we can do for you -- we will!

Grace, I am Bill's sister-in-law and would like to thank you for attending Bill's memorial service last Thursday. We were overwhelmed with the number of people that attended to honor Bill and support his family.
You asked about a charity that people could donate to and we have selected Sacred Heart Community Service where Bill was a volunteer. I have provided a link for your convenience.
