Property values boost high school district budget

When it comes to the local high school district's budget, things seem to be getting back to normal, according to Joe White.

This is good news but I caution everyone involved in setting budgets and spending money to remember that even a minor recession hurts the school district. Of course, the Great Recession we are still recovering from did much worse than "hurt" the district!

I don't get the math. How is a $5.5 million increase in tax revenue also a 5.5% increase on a budget of $58 million that is mostly from tax revenue?

Won't be too long before we start hearing about how poor the schools are.
