I applaud John Inks independence from the Mountain View rubber stamp payola machine, but I'm afraid Margaret Abe-Koga is currently fitting him for cement shoes.

Inks is the only one with a backbone. I appreciate his standing out on this issue. They seemed to eager to accept his counter offer..Rich will start at $240,000. There is no end in sight as to how high his salary will go from there.

I would suggest people watch the tape on the budget talks, which took place earlier in the meeting, where some council members "talk tough" about reigning in employee costs and then essentially open the bank for the CM. What kind of message are they sending to the employees? Maybe if the employees claim they are also unhappy, the council will give them whatever they want.
