What was in the smoke that we all breathed in yesterday? PCB's Heavy metals?
I betcha both and I betcha they had to get rid of it somehow since they prohibited the barging of it due to bay contamination with, you guessed it: PCBs and heavy metals.

In many of these industrial fires, contaminants that have been stored begin to build up and when the costs to get rid of them gets too high, they mysteriously catch fire. I bet this was the most cost effective way of dealing with it from the company's view, and I bet it happens again.

Industry also like to time these "accidents" to weather patterns. A breeze coming from the east would blow it off shore, then the forecast rains would come...but the rains never came, and judging by the air quality today, its been blown back into our faces.
