Politicians and mainstream media drop into Mountain View, make some speeches, get photo-ops; I wonder if they will ever also get any actual insight about silicon valley or technical innovation. The record is unencouraging.

At least we have the comfort of knowing that one particular Northeastern magazine (The Atlantic) will probably not mistakenly locate silicon valley in "southern California," as another such magazine once did.
