Google stops censoring itself in China

Yesterday, Google made good on its threat to stop censoring its search results in China.

The company announced in a [Web Link blog post yesterday] that it stopped censoring Google search results in China as a response to a "sophisticated cyber attack originating from China" that victimized Google, dozens of other companies and several human rights activists late last year.

Despite the move, Google acknowledged that China "could at any time block access to our services."

And it appears that the Chinese government has begun to censor some of Google services, including Youtube, according [Web Link a Google web-page monitoring Google service availability in China].

Some say that Google's move [Web Link marks a change] in relations between China and the Western world.

[Web Link China says Google was "totally wrong"] in its action and expresses resentment over Google's accusations that the Chinese government was involved in the cyber attacks.
