Many towing companies operate on the very gray side of the law. Any police officer could have told the towing company OR the apartment manager instantly a) if the car was legally registered and b) who it was registered to.
In this case my prediction is that court will find for the owner and split the damages between the towing company and apartment management company. The concept of treble damages should also be considered and if the defendents are smart they will do everything in their power to settle - now!

That Indian dude should sue that tow company. People back in the Old West who stole horses would be publicly shot or hung. If I caught a tow truck driver trying to steal my rig, I'd open up a can a whoop ass.

The apt manager Marcus Ball is clearly lying - why the hell would he allow his tenants car get towed if he doesn't get a share from the towing company? Chopda should hire a detective and keep a close watch on the apt manager as well as the towing company. And yeah, Ball deserves his car to get smashes for doing this to a harmless tenant. Damn that apt complex. The towing companies are inherently devil's men, I don't doubt if they even run over the owner and tow his car. Man, these guys need to be sued left right and center.
