Of course she knows what the correct look is because of her academic training and experience in designing projects. Whats correct for her must certainly be correct for everyone else.
What nonsense. Mayor Inks is a saint for being so patient. I live near this site and walk by it all the time. Any new design would be an improvement for these outdated buildings.
What's there currently is certainly ugly.
Is there a part of downtown Mountain View that *isn't* planning on being under construction in the next year? :(
What's up with all this development? This is getting out of hand. I can't even recognize the city anymore.
Will we finally get a strip club? My husband has been asking for one of those downtown for years.

Four stories is not exactly a high rise, good spot for a building like this. Growing Mountain View companies will snap this space up, the condos will sell like hotcakes.
More people living and working downtown means retail base will get stronger.
Why not focus the development on El Camino Real properties that have been abandoned for years? For example, the huge lot across from Two Worlds, the property where Austin's was, the abandoned motel by Western Appliance, etc. There seems to be lots of un-used, decaying properties that could use a make-over and would go a long way towards ending the blight of El Camino Real. Maybe the city could broker a deal between those property owners and some developer?
Those properties already in one way or the other are going though planning stages or have been approved.
The site across from Two Worlds is planned medical offices.
The motel next to Western Appliance is going to be rental units, the site of Austin'd not sure yet but I read somewhere is might be a park or be looked at.
Check the planning department, they have a nice list of planned projects in the pipeline.
Must be an awful long pipeline, the Two Worlds and Austin's sites have been vacant and looking like crap for years.
Austin was part of the Tropicana site, which is going to be built on, the Austin might be a park? Still in limbo.
The site across Two Worlds was old Mountain View and then some used car dealer, the site had toxics in the ground. Site needed to be cleaned. I have seen photos of medical offices but still nothing built.
I have seen projects approved and then fall apart, nothing gets done or just reason that are know to the developer. Other projects developers have good sense, good business plan, the market changes all the time. I don't want to see everything overbuilt, would rather take time and building something really nice and that can last.
Oooops Mountain View Ford, before that it was some other car dealer. Parson's maybe. After Ford was a used car lot.

Put a park on El Camino???? And how does the fuzzy math work 16% less parking cause we feel like it. Rules are rules for a reason.
