Alcohol use a factor in fatal car crash

Bookmark and Share
The driver who died in a fiery crash in February on West Middlefield Road had a blood alcohol content three times the legal limit, police say.

Police say that 24 year old Luis Sanchez-Contreras died immediately from blunt force trauma to the head after his Volvo struck seven trees at high speed and then burst into flames in the early morning of Sunday, Feb. 21. No one else was involved in the crash.

Police spokesperson Liz Wylie said blood tests now show that Sanchez-Contreras had a blood alcohol content of .26.
