Literacy program hires new program director
Raising a Reader, a Mountain View-based national nonprofit, announced this week that Holly Kreider, has joined the organization as the new director of early childhood literacy programs in its national office.
In her new position, Kreider will lead various efforts within the organization related to childhood literacy, education and development, such as research, grant writing, strategic planning, and management of the program.
Kreider's experience in the education field spans a wide variety of projects, both in applied research and executive leadership. Before joining Raising a Reader, she was vice president of research and communication at Sociometrics Corporation, and led research projects involving children at risk or with developmental disabilities. She also held a research position at the Harvard Family Research Project in the Harvard Graduate School of Education, from which she received a doctorate and a master's degree in education.
Raising a Reader is a nonprofit organization based in Mountain View offering local agencies an evidence-based early literacy and parent engagement program in order to improve reading skills for children from birth to age five, serving 110,000 children through its 2,500 affiliate sites across the country.
