What's on the market in local communities

Looking to buy a house, but don't have your heart set on a specific neighborhood? It can be a useful exercise to compare just what you can get at different price points.
In Menlo Park, for example, $500,000 buys a modest starter home from the 1950s that has been fixed up. Or, in that same price range, one can find a condo in Mountain View.
In Woodside, a comparably sized home costs $900,000.
Here's a sampling of what was on the market in September:
