James Jay Galbreath

WWII veteran, scout master

James Jay Galbreath, a Mountain View resident, died Feb. 27 after a long illness. He was 87.

He was born in Live Oak in 1924 and lived in Mountain View for 56 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force for three years during World War II and was a Federal Records Center employee in San Bruno for many years. He was a Boy Scout Master for 43 years and loved the outdoors, backpacking and camping, his family said.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Naomi; his daughter Gail and son Brian; his brothers, George and Allan; and one granddaughter.

Funeral services were held March 7 at Cusimano Family Colonial Mortuary in Mountain View with burial at the family plot at Live Oak. Donations in memory of James can be made to the Boy Scouts of America or Blackberry REACT.
