About this blog: I am a clinical psychologist, mother, and wife committed to using my life to help the lives of those around me. In addition to seeing clients in my private practice, I contribute to various training and research initiatives in clinical psychology. I am an Adjunct Clinical Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University, a clinical supervisor for the University of Washington, and a Clinical Research Learning Consultant for the VA Palo Alto. I live, work, and play in Mountain View, CA, where my private practice resides. In my work as a psychologist, I've become increasingly disheartened by the amount of misinformation out there. It seems that, with the popularity of social media, more and more people have a platform for advising us on their ideas for how we can improve everything from our relationships to our job performance. Unfortunately, a lot of these ideas have not been tested or supported by clinical research and are spread by folks with little or no professional training. In contrast, my blog aims to provide an informed perspective on popular issues in psychology related to my areas of expertise including parenting, relationships, balancing priorities, and achieving one's goals. By sharing what I've learned, researched, and experienced as a clinician alongside my own personal attempts to build a fulfilling and meaningful life, I hope to make some sense out of the overwhelming and at times contradictory advice we receive.  (Hide)
