Who Likes to Zin?

Uploaded: Feb 7, 2017

So The Food Party! has been out for a couple weeks causing trouble around town. Actually, I haven’t posted lately because it’s taking me way too long to write the Food Letter to Donald Trump. Thanks to food partier! Elizabeth for checking up on us (she asked if I had gotten fired!)

Until FLtDT goes live, I wanted to make sure everyone knows that ZinEx is coming back to town, February 24 & 25. If you like to Zin every now and again, check out this event. My favorite red, Zinfandel, has a story that touches my youth, only discovered last year when I attended for the first time.

ZinEX 2017
Zinfandel Experience (ZinEX) is a fantastic way to spend a weekend and experience Zinfandel’s classic character. The three days of events include a farm-to-table dining experience, seminar-style tasting, winemakers auction and dinner, and a grand tasting of more than 500 Zinfandels from top regions and producers.

LSIC 2015

A Little History
In the 80’s, a passionate group of folks came together to celebrate Zinfandel and educate the public about it’s place in America’s history and culture (California’s hometown grape). ZAP (Zinfandel Advocates and Producers) was founded in 1991 when Zinfandel was the underdog with a cause (and I lose my vino-virginity). It's now a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and I'll donate to that :)

Winemakers and Zinfandel lovers joined to create a movement to elevate the understanding and status of Zinfandel wine – rightfully establishing it among the premier varietals of the world.

Main Event
Grand Tasting at Pier 27 in San Francisco
Saturday, February 25, 2017
Attendees meet winemakers during this most comprehensive showing of Zinfandels and blends in the world. This ultimate tasting experience includes a selection of sumptuous samples from restaurants and winery chefs and opportunities to experience face-to-face tastings with celebrity winemakers. Pier 27 offers panoramic views of the bay – a great place to Zin the day away!

All-Day (11:00 am – 4:30 pm) passes are $150 for public, and the more gentile afternoon pass (2:00 pm – 4:30 pm) is $70.

Next year get your tickets early and save big!

I love Zinfandel. It's deep, dark and dirty.

For a funny version that addresses a similar situation started by vintners in California, watch " The Mouse That Roared ". You will also see a famous actor play several roles in this motion picture..
