Lights Out! Foods to Snuggle With in the Dark

Uploaded: Oct 8, 2019

It’s the big brace tonight as we find out what’s going to happen. Power on? Power off? The St Mary’s wellness fair in Moraga (where I thought I'd be) already called to say "sorry, no power for you tomorrow." Fire department said we've got a 99% chance for lights out up in Portola Valley.

48 hours we could be out of power? Crazy. I should be charging everything instead of using battery power writing this. What are you doing? You should too!

Seriously, I hadn’t really thought about it until right now. Lucky householders got generators, but not moi.

What To Do Before the Power Goes Out – Food Party! files

Think camping – in your house
Find your flashlights and candles
What’s in the fridge I need to keep?
Get ice and coolers ready.
Get water
Eat frozen foods for dinner.
Eat all your ice cream tonight :)
Get rid of food you needed to throw out anyways.
Find a special place for chilled medications
Find camp stove. Need fuel?
Find that old coffee cone for hand pour drip
Run your garbage disposal; make sure it is cleaned out. Put some lemon slices down for good measure.
Get rid of smelly things in your fridge like 1/2 cut onions and blue cheese.
Buy foods to snuggle with in the dark: red wine, chocolate, stout beer, campstove tea

Also
Charge up your travel phone battery (s)
Fill up your gas tank
Get some cash
Restock survival kit
Bring out solar lights
Find solar charger you just bought from REI

Good luck! Stay safe.

We need your support now more than ever. Can we count on you?
