Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Here’s a few more places we’ve been Food Partying! at lately. Both fit well for New Years and beyond, so extend your holiday hoopla for few more weeks with a field trip of adventure.

The Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel, San Francisco

Spruced up with a $90 million renovation, the Clift offers a unique holiday stayover, or a break from festive Union Square shopping and ice skating under the City’s official holiday tree (easy one block away). Over a century old, The Clift Hotel is legendary just like The Mark Hopkins Hotel from last week.

Originally constructed in 1915 for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition, it is home to the famous “Big Chair.”

Get lost going down the vintage stairwell to

Fredericks, their newly opened lower-level eatery for breakfast and to-go food while Union Square holiday shopping, or the art-deco inspired Redwood Room that has always been a favorite of mine for a drink and a bite once you are done.

An elegant must-see for Bay Area folks, redwood panels surround and hug you with a classic San Francisco vibe. A back bar fills floor to ceiling, while the front bar offers an expansive place light enough to read a book if you are visiting solo, and cool enough to connect at with City creatives at happy hour.

Blink your eyes and wait…is that Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall sitting on the stools at the end?

Après Village at Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley

Looking for a cozy mountainside retreat in the heart of Palo Alto, with mini-chalets, fireside movies, and indulgent winter treats?

Apres Village returns once again to Four Seasons Hotel in East Palo Alto. Come after dinner for a hot toddy and snuggle with warm plaid cushions and pashmina blankets. An alpine-inspired menu from Chef Martin Morelli and fireside movies are joined by the Sweet Shoppe featuring Pastry Chef Guillermo Soto’s decadent treats; a holiday sleigh; and life-sized “snow globe” complete with snowfall for picture-perfect opportunities!

Open till February 26, 2022, the outdoor terrace of the Hotel’s signature restaurant Quattro transforms into an intimate winter wonderland with rustic wooden chalets, sleek fire tables and lighted alpine trees. It’s really cozy and festive; a unique place for outdoor holiday fun.

Designed for sharing, the menu is based on world renowned ski destinations faire, with highlights including gruyere cheese and champagne fondue;

poutine; warming cocktails; and family-style s’mores of house-made graham crackers and vanilla bean marshmallows.

Finally – when it’s time for a break from all the hoopla- there’s talk that Dry January is returning to a Food Party! near you and we hope YOU join us this year. Last year was my first DJ, and what an interesting experience it t’was. One of the things I learned is that complexity of taste is as important, if not more, to the pleasure of a drink than the alcohol. So make sure your non-alcoholic drinks offer complexity in flavor for most satisfaction. Check out more in the links from last year.
