Camper opens for lunch in Menlo Park

Uploaded: Dec 3, 2018

Menlo Park's buzzy new Camper restaurant is now open for lunch, with new sandwiches, soups, salads and entrees.

The restaurant opened at 898 Santa Cruz Ave. in September. The lunch expansion was driven by customer requests, according to an announcement.

"We have always wanted Camper to feel like an extension of people's homes," Managing Partner Logan Levant said. "Being open for lunch, we can be there to further support the community with delicious, thoughtful food in the middle of their busy days."

The lunch menu includes some dishes from dinner, including pastas and a cheeseburger. Dishes new to lunch include a grilled cheese sandwich, a house-smoked turkey sandwich on dutch crunch bread, a vegan squash "muffaletta" with whipped tofu and a black Angus flat iron steak served “Fred’s Style,” an homage to the popular marinated Fred’s Steak from Schaubs Meat Fish & Poultry at Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto.

Camper is also offering a prix-fixe "On the Run" menu that can be ordered to go for lunch. Customers can choose a starter and a main for $19 or a starter, main and dessert for $23 from that menu.

Camper is serving lunch Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Camper's kitchen is led by Chef Greg Kuzia-Carmel, who came with experience from the Michelin-starred Quince, Cotogna and Outerlands in San Francisco and Per Se in New York City.
