El Camino In-N-Out to open July 13
(June 29, 2001) By Grant Gruber
A new In-N-Out Burger restaurant at 49 W. El Camino Real will open July 13, store manager Johnny Rangel said.
The location will be the second in Mountain View, after the store at 1159 N. Rengstorff Ave., and will be the 152nd store in the chain. A grand opening ceremony that will be attended by corporate officials will be held at 10 a.m.
Approximately 50 people will be employed when the restaurant opens, a spokesperson for the company said.
Bob Locke, Mountain View's finance director, is forbidden by state law from revealing the amount of sales tax revenue a business generates. But he said that the In-N-Out store on Rengstorff Avenue is not among the top 50 revenue-generators in the city. In order to be in the top 50 a business must bring in at least $17,000 each quarter.
In-N-Out, headquartered in Irvine, is a family-owned enterprise that operates stores in California, Nevada and Arizona. Harry and Esther Snyder opened the first location in Baldwin Park in 1948, pioneering the drive-through fast food restaurant in California. Stores in the chain are owned and operated by the Snyder family and are not franchised.
