Kiwanis Club awards $22,000 in scholarships

The Mountain View Kiwanis Club recently awarded $22,000 in scholarships to 22 graduating high school seniors in the area.
Each student received a $1,000 college scholarship for academic achievement and commitment to community service. Dan Hoppe, the youth services chairman for the Kiwanis, said, "It is great to be giving something to the kids that are giving back to the community."
The annual scholarships, which were awarded May 31 at the Palo Alto Elks Club, went to Diane Moncayo, Lori Brooks, Ray Ching, Rosa Mendosa, Miguel Valencia, Krista Yakuborsky, John Best, Steven Ragan, Julia Balster, Jennifer Leung, Jaime Bardina, Kimmi Hoang, Eric Hoppe, Korey Lee, Jia Ou-Yang, Christopher Linn, Elisabeth Waldinger, Eric Licea, Janet Pineda, Brian Xie, Nicholas Perry, and Silviana Vetere.
