Voice health and fitness writer and Mountain View resident Diana Reynolds Roome's children's picture book, "The Elephant's Pillow" won a Fall 2003 Parents' Choice Silver Honor, publisher Farrar, Straus & Giroux, Books for Young Readers announced.
The 32-page book, illustrated by Jude Daly, tells the story of an unhappy royal elephant who can't sleep after the death of the emperor.
According to the Parents' Choice Web site "Identifying the best products for children of different ages, backgrounds, skills, and interests, the Parents' Choice Awards are given to products that meet and exceed standards set by educators, scientists, performing artists, librarians, parents, and yes, kids themselves."
Vet on honor roll
Dr. Kenton Taylor was added to the Morris Animal Foundation Veterinary Honor Roll. He is one of 165 veterinary professionals who have been inducted into the foundation's honor roll. Donors nominated honorees by contributing $500 or more to the foundation on behalf of the recipient. Taylor was nominated by the owner of a golden retriever that had been diagnosed with a terminal illness.
Each honoree receives a plaque and recognition on the foundation's Wall of Honor.
