There may never be a white Christmas in Mountain View but one thing to look forward to every year during the holiday season is the city's annual Tree Lighting Celebrating.

This year's festivities will take place on Monday, Dec. 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Civic Center Plaza at 500 Castro St.

There will be entertainment with refreshments and face painting. Santa Claus himself is expected to make an entrance between 6:20 and 6:45. There will be opportunities to visit and take photos with the North Pole native.

People who come are encouraged to bring a can of food to help build the Giving Tree, which benefits clients of the Community Services Agency.
