A woman sleeping in her motel room on Fairchild Drive at around 3:15 a.m. on Feb. 4 was surprised and sexually assaulted by an intruder who had entered through an unlocked window, said Mountain View police.

The unidentified man also robbed the victim when he left the scene, taking a Dell laptop computer, a Sprint cell phone and a shiny black purse with a long strap.

Police described the suspect as a black male, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall and weighs between 150 and 180 pounds with an athletic build, short hair, and a clean-shaven face with a clear complexion.

At the time of the assault, the suspect was dressed in a dark colored T-shirt, possibly with netting, and a thick down or synthetic-filled black jacket with a collar and light-colored lining. He wore a silver ring on his right hand with no gemstone and a basket weave design.
