School closure meeting School closure meeting (February 20, 2004)

The Mountain View-Whisman School District has scheduled two community meetings on Feb. 25 and Feb. 27 to discuss the possibility of closing a school. The School Closure Task Force, which has been meeting since November, will present its findings, and the public is encouraged to give input on this issue. District officials say a school closure may be the only way to balance next year's operating budget, especially if Measure J does not pass. The task force will present its recommendation to the school board March 25. No decisions have been made yet.

The community meeting on Feb. 25 will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Landels Elementary School, 115 W. Dana St. The Feb. 27 meeting will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Theuerkauf Elementary School, 1625 San Luis Ave.
