Mountain View City Council member Mary Lou Zoglin collapsed at Tuesday night's council meeting around 8 p.m. and was rushed to a hospital.
The two-term council member left the dais and stepped outside council chambers when City Manager Kevin Duggan heard a noise, he said. He found Zoglin, 75, passed out on the floor of the corridor that connects the council chambers to a conference room.
"It gave us all a little bit of a scare," Duggan said.
Zoglin slowly regained consciousness and an ambulance transported her to El Camino Hospital, where she spent Tuesday night. She was admitted to the hospital at 9:47 p.m., and a hospital official said she was in stable condition on Wednesday morning.
According to Duggan, Zoglin had been taking medication, which her doctors believe may have lowered her blood pressure and triggered the fainting.
Duggan spoke with Zoglin on Wednesday morning and said she was feeling better and looking forward to returning home later that day.
Zoglin was elected to the City Council in 1996 and re-elected in 2000. She served as Mountain View's mayor in 1999.
After Zoglin fell, the council finished discussing the last action item on its agenda and then adjourned the meeting, skipping a scheduled study session.
