(March 05, 2004) Pushed to speak out on same-sex marriage
Editor:
I've been watching the news about the same-sex marriages in San Francisco, and I can only hold my thought for so long before God finally pushes me enough to speak out.
I am disagreeing with same-sex marriage, not because I hate the participants, but because I care for them. The Bible said that if you love your neighbors you would tell them if they are doing something wrong, and this is what I am doing.
I am sure all the protesters in San Francisco feel the same way I do. We do not want anybody to sin against God. The Bible clearly mentions that marriage is between a man and a woman, not men and men or women and women.
Why are most people so worried about human rights and not worried at all about sinning against God? As human beings, we are sinners by nature so why do we want to sin even more by allowing same-sex marriage?
This is not about human rights; this is about not following the plan God has for humans. Same-sex marriage is the most pure definition of sin I can think of. In fact, I would be sinning if I did not speak out to help my fellow human beings. Toleration has now become forced acceptance, even support.
