Friends of Jim Dein, the bicyclist who was hit and killed in by a motorist Los Gatos last month, will honor him with a memorial bike ride on Sunday. Riders will meet at The Bicycle Outfitter at the corner of Miramonte Avenue and Foothill Expressway in Los Altos at 10 a.m.

Exit ramp demolished

Demolition of the Old Middlefield Way exit ramp from northbound U.S. Highway 101 in Mountain View is expected to last through March 19. It will take place from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting, and noticeable noise is expected.

Construction is scheduled to continue along southbound 101 between Shoreline Boulevard and Old Middlefield Way through May 2004. During the ramp's 18-month closure, drivers can exit northbound 101 onto North Rengstorff Avenue, which intersects with Old Middlefield Way.
