On the night of St. Patrick's Day officers encountered a 34-year-old man on Castro Street under the influence of alcohol. He was advised that if he refused to go inside he would be arrested for public drunkenness, at which point he demanded to be arrested. When the officers told him to turn around so they could put the handcuffs on, he resisted arrest. He was taken into custody for being drunk in public and booked into the San Jose Main Jail.

At 9:15 p.m. police received a call from a witness who had seen two juvenile males attempting to steal a Toyota Camry from 509 Sierra Vista Ave. and then flee on a green BMX bike. An officer located two suspects matching the descriptions at the intersection of San Ramon Ave. and San Clemente Ave. and placed them under arrest. While the suspects were being questioned, another officer found a 1989 Toyota Camry station wagon left out in the middle of the street in front of the house it was taken from in the 900 block of San Marcos Circle., which was connected to the two suspects in custody. The green BMX bike was also located on San Marcos Ave. and was determined to be stolen property. The two suspects, aged 16 and 17, were taken to the police station, processed and released to their parents.
