Voices Around Town Voices Around Town (April 02, 2004)

Are high gas prices causing you to drive less?

Asked in downtown Mountain View. Photos and interviews by Dan Stapleton.

"Definitely, I am driving less. I usually drive from San Mateo to Mountain View, but because of the prices, I don't come here nearly as often."
Perry Quarshie, San Mateo

"I usually drive around Mountain View and Palo Alto, but gas costs more now, so if I don't have a lot of business, I don't use my car."
Surat Pimsakul, Mountain View

"I used to have an SUV, and now I have a Volkswagen bug. Also, I'm driving less because I don't have a job."
Meredith Brown, Mountain View

"I wasn't driving very much before, so it's not affecting me."
Chi Nguyen, Stanford

"It doesn't change anything. I have to drive to work and around for errands. There's nothing I can do about it."
Julie Valentine, Sunnyvale
