Assault with Deadly Weapon -- 2000 Block Latham St., 4/9

A man tried to keep a woman, with whom he had a child, inside their apartment on the 2000 block of Latham Street because he believed she was leaving to see another man. He slapped her several times and stabbed her in the thigh with a steak knife. Police responded at 4:28 p.m. and arrested the man for assault with a deadly weapon.

Battery -- Gold's Gym, 1400 N. Shoreline Blvd., 4/10

A male was waiting for his mother to pick him up in front of Gold's Gym at 1400 N. Shoreline Blvd. when he was approached by four people at 9:07 p.m. One of them asked him, "What is your problem?" He responded that he was waiting for his ride.

One of the four then punched the victim, who threw his attacker to the ground in self defense. The victim's mother arrived, saw what was happening and yelled that she was calling the police. The suspects fled in their SUV in an unknown direction. Police arrived, but the victim refused medical attention and declined any police involvement.
