Buy a brick for Loyola
Loyola School alumni, families and friends can buy a four-inch-by-eight-inch brick to be engraved with their names or a personal statement, which will be integrated into a permanent and highly visible part of the elementary school campus. Buyers will also receive a mini replica of their personal brick that can be used as a paperweight or magnet.
Bricks can be bought for $100. The deadline for buying a brick is April 23. To place an order or for more information, call Anna Weldon at 941-1477 or akweldon@mktstrategy.com.
Student math competition lands on TV
The championship match of the Math Square Tournament, which tests high school students' math skills, will be broadcast on local cable stations May 3-4. The quasi-game show, produced by the Silicon Valley Instructional Television of the Santa Clara Office of Education, began airing on local television stations earlier this month. Students from Los Altos High School were among the competitors.

MVHS senior wins educational grant
Lisa Griego, a senior at Mountain View High School, is a gold medallion winner of the Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards. Griego won under the sports category.
Awards will be presented at a special ceremony, which will take place May 13 at Stanford University. Each winner will receive $3,000 and a computer. The Hispanic Heritage Awards Foundation will also make a $1,000 donation to a community service organization chosen by each regional winner. The top performing high school seniors were chosen by selection committees comprised of professionals and community leaders.
MVHS mock trial team places third in county
The Mountain View High School mock trial team placed third in the Santa Clara County mock trial competition. Now in its second year of competition, the team of 13 students practiced twice a week for three months, using a casebook of facts from the Constitutional Rights Foundation, the national organization which organizes mock trials. Students competed in four preliminary trial rounds.
The team included Matthew Griffin, Kevin Turner, Radhika Desai, Skylar Clark, Jackie Mayer, Kelli Kado, Patrick Shih, Ryan Wong, Justin Li, James Li, Matthew Brigham, Prashant Rai and Stephen Hess.
