Voices Around Town
(April 23, 2004) What do you think of the low-carb diet craze?
Asked in downtown Mountain View. Photos and interviews by Dan Stapleton.
"I believe in eating right and exercising, so I think it depends on what kind of exercise you do. If you're doing long-distance running or something that takes a lot of energy, I don't think it's healthy."
Hilary Williamson, Mountain View
"It's a craze -- it'll come and go. It has its niche, but in the long term, it's probably unhealthy."
Sanjay Prasad, Palo Alto
"I think they're great, because it really works. I just started it and I've lost weight."
Merle Martin, Mountain View
"I think it's a big trend. There's some validity to the Atkins diet, but I think people just end up cheating on it and gain more weight than with other diets."
Justin Ruhnke, Mountain View
