Feel the beat and move your feet to the wide-ranging sounds of classic rock and roll, rhythm and blues, Celtic folk, oldies, and dance music at A La Carte & Art, May 15-16 on Castro Street in downtown Mountain View.

Join the fun with dynamic duo Amy Beasley and Marlies de Veer of Blue House. Together since high school, the two singers/songwriters perform acoustic folk/rock classics and originals and have a large following in the Bay Area. They delight their fans with material from Patsy Cline to No Doubt. Blue House will get you swaying and leave you wanting more.

For a jammin' good time, don't miss The Chubby All Stars. Band leader Roger "Chubby" Henson and his members play a blend of originals and hits, and call their band "a country, rock, rhythm and blues band." Chubby's heroes are Bob Dylan, the Grateful Dead, Eric Clapton, the Beatles and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Fans appreciate the familiar music of these "ex-hippies" and Chubby said, "People like us because we just jam!"

The Sun Kings are a Beatles cover band that will have you dancing in the streets with its repertoire of ninety classic Beatles tunes. Band leader Michael Barrett has been a Beatles fan since the 1960s and said a favorite among fans is "I Am the Walrus." Come enjoy "Good Day Sunshine" ... in the sunshine, with The Sun Kings.

From classic rock to contemporary pop, The Gents have something for everyone. Their playlist includes hits from Latin and reggae to funk and swing. Band member Joey "Jam" Flores has shared the stage with bands such as Smash Mouth, Santana and Mariah Carey. The Gents please their legion of fans with songs like "Brown-Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison, "Love Shack" by the B-52's and "Melt with You" by Modern English.

Live Action Heroes take dance music to a whole new level. "We're high energy, hip, cutting edge and, we have a great time," said Luana Pedota, the lead female vocalist.

Hit songs like "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gayner, "Dancing Queen" by Abba, and "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge, dominate the song list. Band member Stevie Heger was originally a drummer with The Beach Boys.

From old standards to pop songs of the disco age and on up into today's crossover music, The Garage Band makes ear candy for every taste. One of the South Bay's most sought-after groups, this full-tilt happening offers up eclectic playlist spanning six decades of solid gold hits to get everybody ready to get down. Expect to hear anything from the Rolling Stones to the Temptations and Sheryl Crow to Frank Sinatra.

Gypsy Soul is an award-winning, international touring group whose original music is best described as Folk/Rock with a Celtic and American twist. Its members have independently produced six CDs and have had their music placed over 50 times on shows such as "Providence," "Felicity," "Roswell," "The Young and the Restless" and MTV's "Tough Enough" among many others. Their latest CD, "The Journey" is available nationwide.

Wind player Laura Bryant and keyboardist Max Gutierrez are Dreamroad. Their beautiful woodwind and keyboard compositions derived from diverse cultural heritage are melodic and spiritual with a rhythmic World-Beat sensibility.

Groove Camp is a percussion ensemble with Latin and African rhythms celebrating life and the creative spirit through music. Mostly percussion, the band also features a bass player and instruments including the dijiridu, djembe, congas and bongos.

Ancient Winds plays traditional and contemporary folk music of the Andes Mountain region featuring upbeat, happy Ecuadorian rhythms. Traditional Andean folk music utilizes various wind instruments formed from reeds native to the jungle and coastal regions of South America.
