Save your child's toothprint

In honor of National Missing Children's Day, a Mountain View couple will be hosting a free children's "fingerprinting and tooth-printing" event on May 23 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Children will bite into a thermoplastic wafer that their parents are given to keep. It not only records the child's dental record, but it also has DNA on it that is useful for many things including providing a scent for tracking dogs.

The event will take place at 1704 Miramonte Ave., #4 in Mountain View. For more information, e-mail Noel Moser at noelmoserkim@yahoo.com.

Navy unveils clean-up options

Residents can file comments until June 4 about the U.S. Navy's proposed cleanup plan for a section of Moffett Field known as Site 27, which includes the Northern Channel.

The Navy is proposing to clean up the site by removing layers of sediment and oil in areas where the contaminants exceed the limits considered safe for birds. The Navy also plans to upgrade the habitat by improving the drainage channels, backfilling excavated areas and revegetating others.

Residents can review a copy of the plan at the Mountain View Public Library at 585 Franklin St. For more information, call Andrea Espinoza, the Navy's environmental coordinator at (619) 532-0911 or e-mail andrea.espinoza@navy.mil.
