San Francisco Decorator Showcase offers design inspiration

If you're shopping for ideas and trends in decorating, this year's San Francisco Decorator Showcase won't disappoint. While checking out the view from this 11,000-square-foot, Pacific Heights mansion that formerly was owned by the British Consul, don't miss the backyard. The fountain is a very lifelike “live-cast” gunnera, nestled among the real thing.

Other rooms not to miss:

** the master bathroom, with its three coats of automotive paint on the ceiling

** the sea-green plaster in the guest sitting room, where silver metallic wax was applied just before it set

** the dramatic and charming, stenciled floor of the entry powder room

** the dining room, complete with Ann Getty's decorator touches, from furniture to tassels and china
