Summer school registration extended
The Los Altos School District is still accepting registration for its two summer enrichment programs. Both programs will run from June 21 to July 16.
The summer program for students in grades two to four will be held at Springer School from 8:20 a.m. to 12:20 p.m.
The program for students in grades five to seven will be held at Blach Middle School from 8:35 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. Available class offering include: architectural design, Spanish conversation, French conversation, public speaking and critical thinking, science spectator, outdoor adventures, super study skills, and robotics.

Golf tournament to raise money for schools
The Mountain View Educational Foundation will host its third annual MVEF Golf Tournament at Shoreline on June 4. Mayor Matt Pear will be the celebrity beverage cart driver. The event will feature a Hole-in-One contest with a prize and a post-golf reception.

Foothill-De Anza awarded $600,000 from Hewlett Foundation
The Foothill-De Anza Community College District has been awarded $600,000 from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation to build upon its course management system. Course management systems are tools that allow faculty to post course materials online, communicate with students and deliver or supplement instruction using the Web.
MVHS student recognized in essay contest
The Humane Education Network announced the winners of its 14th annual "A Voice for Animals" essay contest on May 10. Katie Levy, a freshman at Mountain View High School received an honorable mention for describing how animal testing is a "barbaric practice."
