Weekend of celebration Weekend of celebration (July 02, 2004)

Shoreline Amphitheatre's 18th annual San Francisco Symphony performance on July 4 will have a family twist this year. The concert and fireworks show, sponsored this year by Radio Disney, will again feature classic American music. During the second half of the show, the symphony will play Disney songs along with characters from Disney movies, including Jodi Benson, who was the voice of The Little Mermaid.

Tickets are available from the Shoreline Box Office or any TicketMaster outlet. The special price for Mountain View residents is $15.50 for all tickets. Prices for non-residents range from $23.50 for lawn seats to $28.50 for the most expensive reserved seats. The concert starts at 8 p.m. and doors open at 5 p.m.

People can also take the Stevens Creek Trail to Shoreline Park to watch the fireworks show. The trail will stay open until 11:30 p.m., but does not have any lighting. The city advises users to bring flashlights and wear reflective clothing.

Beyond Mountain View, revelers can head to Great America on July 3 or the San Jose America Festival on July 4 for music, activities and fireworks. Light rail service will be increased all weekend, and passengers can ride bus and light rail trains for free on Independence Day.
