Voices Around Town
(July 16, 2004) Who would you rather have as president: John Edwards or Dick Cheney?
Asked in Downtown Mountain View. Pictures and interviews by David Herbert.
"Edwards. I don't like the secrecy of this administration and the taking away of citizens' rights. When this happens, what makes us different from the enemy?"
Susan Schumann, Mountain View
"None of the above. I wonder about Edwards' experience and Cheney is too [politically] entrenched.
Maja Popvic, Mountain View
"John Edwards. Cheney has an ideological slant that drives decisions and is not compassionate to ordinary Americans. He has more connections to big business."
Paul Davis, Cupertino
"I would go Edwards, just to keep the current administration out."
Jill Buxton, Palo Alto
"I wouldn't necessarily vote for either. There have been no candidates I like."
Birgitta Bexelius, Mountain View
