Attempted Suicide -- Evelyn St./Franklin St., 8/5

At approximately 1:53 p.m., 911 dispatchers received a cellular call from a female reporting that her boyfriend was going to commit suicide by laying on the tracks primarily used by Caltrain commuter trains.

Dispatchers immediately sent police units to the scene and alerted Caltrain of the impending disaster, and all traffic was stopped on the tracks. Upon arriving on the scene, police found a 27-year-old male laying on the tracks. He was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for observation.

Battery -- 4000 block Collins Ct., 8/10

At approximately 5:05 a.m., a woman awoke in her bedroom to find an unknown man prowling about. She began screaming, and the suspect, in an attempt to silence her, attacked her. The two then engaged in a short struggle, and the suspect then fled the room and residence.

The victim emerged from her residence and started shouting for help, alerting several neighbors who called the police. Mountain View police conducted an extensive search of the area but was unable to locate the suspect, who is described as an adult male about 5 feet 8 inches tall and wearing dark clothing.
