(August 27, 2004) VTF Services wins Moffett contract
VTF Services Inc. has won its largest contract ever to provide grounds maintenance and emergency clean-up service for Moffett Field. The contract runs for five years and will pay VTF $750,000 for the upkeep of the 1,800-acre facility.
VTF Executive Director Susan Hamilton called the contract "the biggest thing we have ever accomplished."
VTF started as a Veterans Administration program but has since developed into a stand-alone nonprofit based in Mountain View. Three quarters of its employees have some type of mental disability, according to Hamilton.
Teens can share with Mayor Pear
Mayor Matt Pear's next "Share with Mayor Pear" event will target Mountain View's teenagers. On Aug. 27, Pear will be hanging out at Starbucks Coffee at 750 Castro St. from 2:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
This event is being presented with the assistance of the city's Youth Advisory Committee.
Pear started his "Share with Mayor Pear" sessions to meet informally with residents. Residents can also schedule appointments for Monday and Friday afternoons or evenings (except when city offices are closed). For more information, call the city clerk's office at 903-6304.
