What do you think of the attack ads aimed at John Kerry?

Asked in downtown Mountain View. Photos and interviews by David Herbert.

"I equate them with the attack ads aired against President Bush. I think they are something we should do away with."
Craig Noah, Mountain View

"I think it's irrelevant to the issue. I don't care if he served in the military. I want to know if he can serve as president. That goes for Bush too."
Jeff Sloane, Mountain View

"I think the presidential candidates should focus on the issues rather than attacks. I'm glad Kerry is addressing it right away and getting back to the issues."
Marilyn Mara, Mountain View

"I think there should be some campaign reform. There should be accountability as to who is responsible. This could be called psychological manipulation. They have such tremendous impact.
Craig Bright, Mountain View

"I haven't seen any of these recent ads but I don't agree with negative advertising in general. I'd rather see commercials about candidates' platforms."
Mike Greay, Mountain View
