Efficiency studios to break ground
A $21.8-million affordable housing project is about to move a step closer to reality. After six years in the making, the Catholic Charities efficiency studios will break ground Sept. 8 at 210 San Antonio Circle. When completed, it will consist of 120 units available at rents ranging from $252 to $700 per month.
To be eligible, residents must be earning between 15 percent and 45 percent of the county's median income, or $11,145 and $33,435, according to the Housing Authority of the County of Santa Clara. The city has authorized over $5 million in deferred zero interest loans that it does not expect to get repaid for.
VTA reroutes bus lines
Bus passengers riding from Mountain View to downtown Palo Alto may find be finding themselves in an unfamiliar spot for the next eight months. The Valley Transit Authority (VTA) is rerouting bus lines 22 and 35, as well as several others, to avoid construction at the Palo Alto Transit Center.
The new downtown Palo Alto stop for the 35 will be at Lytton Avenue and Alma Street, across from the southbound Caltrain platform. The 22 will bypass the station and stop at El Camino and Quarry Road.
