Mountain View-based Thoits Insurance Service, Inc., one of the largest employee-owned insurance brokerages in the U.S., has been selected to be part of an elite group of independent insurance agencies participating in the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America "Best Practices" Study Group.

More than 900 independent agencies in the country were nominated to take part in the annual study, but only 195 agencies qualified for the honor. The qualifications are based on outstanding customer services, growth, stability and financial management.

Lawson-Hawks grows

John Miller, Chief Executive Officer of Lawson-Hawks Insurance Associates, announced the acquisition of an office complex in Mountain View which will serve as the company's new national corporate headquarters. The structure is located at 1091 Shoreline Blvd.

The structure will have more than 35,000 square feet and is located at the corner of Shoreline Boulevard and Highway 101, two blocks from Lawson-Hawks' current corporate headquarters. Scheduled for occupancy on Dec. 1, 2004, the office building will provide state-of-the-art business accommodations, including childcare facilities, a gym and fully wired teleconference quarters for over 100 employees.
