Environmental, housing groups endorse
City council candidates Nick Galiotto, Laura Macias and Stephanie Schaaf were endorsed by the Santa Clara County League of Conservation Voters (LCV). League board member and former Mountain View planning commissioner Pat Showalter said the three candidates the group is endorsing have best demonstrated their commitment to protecting and enhancing the environment.
The Tri-County Apartment Association also made endorsements last week, and likewise endorsed only three candidates for the four open seats. Galiotto, Macias and Mayor Matt Pear garnered the group's backing.
Macias, Schaaf to make appearance
City council candidates Laura Macias and Stephanie Schaaf are scheduled to appear at the Sept. 23 opening of "Votes for Women: Unfinished Business," an exhibit at the Los Altos History Museum.
The California Exhibition Resources Alliance presents the traveling display, which details the American women's suffrage movement, the struggle to pass the Equal Rights Amendment and the search for equity between women and men.
The exhibit's opening is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the museum at 51 S. San Antonio
Road in Los Altos. For more information, call 948-9427 or visit www.losaltoshistory.org.
