Arrest made in attempted kidnapping

William Perada, 27, was identified as a suspect in the Nov.14 attempted kidnapping on Calderon Avenue where a woman was forced into a car and later released.

Police identified Perada by following the license plate number the victim recorded after being let go. Police located the white 2000 Ford Mustang involved in the case at Perada's residence in Sunnyvale.

Perada was called in for questioning at the Mountain View police station on Monday. At the conclusion of the interview, Perada was arrested for charges of kidnapping and battery. Further investigation of the case is still underway. The male passenger who persuaded the suspect to release the victim still has not been located.

The suspect appeared to be unknown to the victim, and his motive remains unknown. Perada is not linked to any other crime.
