Counterfeit coins -- 300 block Sierra Vista Ave., 12/22

The owner of an apartment complex reported finding 91 counterfeit coins in his coin-operated washer and dryers. The counterfeit coins, also called "slugs," are little metal discs that resemble quarters. Apparently, one or more residents in the apartment complex had done $22.75 worth of laundry using the fake coins.

Police took the apartment owner's statement. There are currently no witnesses or suspects in the case.

Drug bust -- Miramonte and Sladky Aves., 12/23

Police responded to an emergency call from a friend of a 16-year-old girl who was suffering from a reaction to a "hash brownie." According to police, the teen had been frightened by the effect the morsel had on her body and asked a friend to call the paramedics.

The girl was transported to El Camino Hospital. Police cited one of her friends for providing marijuana to a minor.
