Police search for armed robber
(January 07, 2005) Suspect targeted beauty supply store
Mountain View police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Dec. 29 at a beauty supply store, in which the suspect also stole an employee vehicle, according to a police spokesperson.
The robbery occurred at 5:36 p.m. at the Beauty Unlimited store located at 1550 Grant Road.
According to the spokesperson, a Hispanic man between 18 and 21 entered the store and pretended to be shopping.
When all customers had left the store, the man approached the counter and revealed what is believed to be the butt of a handgun, the spokesperson said.
The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of money and also fled the scene with the female clerk's vehicle, a 1999 silver Honda Accord with license plate number 4HCX622.
The vehicle also has tinted windows and a sticker of a yellow duck over the gas tank, according to the spokesperson.
The suspect was last seen heading toward El Camino Real and a search of the area resulted in the discovery of an abandoned vehicle that was determined to have been stolen in Walnut Creek.
The spokesperson said lab tests are being performed on the recovered vehicle.
