The St. Francis girls basketball team took fifth place in the Seaside Tournament on Dec. 27-30.

The Lancers posted a 66-57 first-round victory over host Seaside, but then suffered only their second loss of the pre-season, a 60-54 defeat to Burlingame (13-1) in the quarterfinals.

Relegated to the consolation round, St. Francis defeated Eastside 69-68 and completed the tournament with a 54-49 win over Harbor.

Having ended a successful pre-season that included a victory over a competitive Palo Alto team, St. Francis (9-2) heads into its league play at Sacred Heart Prep on Jan. 8.
